**Choose the correct ladder**

- ****Always check sticker on ladder for specifications and limits****

 

Type     Weight Rating       Duty Rating

1-AA     375 pounds           Super Heavy Duty

1-A         300 pounds         Extra Heavy Duty

1             250 pounds         Heavy Duty Industrial

2             225 pounds         Medium Duty Commercial

3             200 pounds         Light Duty Household

 

**Inspect the Ladder**

Always inspect ladders before each use. If ladder is damaged or defective, mark it as so. Clearly mark or tag the ladder with “DO NOT USE” and remove from jobsite until repaired and inspected. Inspect all aspects of ladder including: Rungs, Side Rails, Cracks, Excessive Bends, Hardware, Feet, Coatings or Paint, Slipping Hazards.

 

**Using the Ladder**

- ****Keep your body centered on the middle of the ladder- Do not lean to reach items while standing on the ladder.****

 

- ****Follow the 4:1 rule- For every 4 feet of height have base 1 foot away from vertical surface****

 

- Face the ladder and use the 3 point contact system
